- They will learn to critically appraise the knowledge, theories and methods currently in use, and seek to add to and improve these in the interests of the society as a whole.
- They will work with professionals from other disciplines to generate the basic and applied knowledge to be used to develop and promote programs aimed at benefiting from and preserving the natural resources.
- They will show responsibility in applying the techniques currently used in the field of biotechnology to seek out solutions to problems of knowledge, health and conservation. They will, furthermore, have the bases necessary for generating new molecular techniques.

The Biology graduate will be able to undertake a broad range of productive activities related to managing natural resources, developing basic science and spreading scientific knowledge. They will be able to work as free-lancers, in government institutions, in research centres, as teachers, and in private businesses.
